Physician and Science/Medical Writer

I am a physician and science/medical writer. I write about the fragile contrast between life and death, and how humans and even sentient animals navigate that precarious walk through and on the edge of their existence.
My medical training is in pediatrics, public health, and infectious diseases. I completed over a decade of clinical research in pediatric HIV infection and tuberculosis diagnosis in children in South Africa. I also have a background in drug regulation and clinical trial development. I also have a graduate degree in Science Writing.
A Zimbabwean-American, I spent the early years of my life in the Midwest before moving to Zimbabwe at age six, where I spent my formative years. I left for university in Canada at eightee, and moved south to the US for my medical and fellowship training.
My writing about people and culture, medical dilemmas, the fragility of young lives, and environmental conservation has appeared in the Washingtonian, Smithsonian, Huffington Post, Conscious Company, The Pharos of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, SOCAL Global, pulse, and Hektoen International.

My Book
I am currently conducting research for a nonfiction book I am planning to write on the rare and difficult-to-treat disease of the gut, biliary atresia. The book will be part memoir and part medical investigation, and will explore the complex relationship between disease and family circumstance, fate and the consequences of medical decisions.
I also write fiction under a pen name.
